I have, for a long time, been really interested in understanding how children learn and develop.  My initial curiosity developed when I became a parent myself, at a time when my siblings and friends were still only interested in partying! Consequently, I sought and took advice from the abundance of books I purchased on how to raise a thriving child.

Nurturing thriving children is still my passion many years later and I feel very fortunate that I get to work with and support children with their learning every single day.  Most of my teaching experience in education has revolved around the early years and KS1 setting and I have therefore gained an enormous amount of experience in understanding how children form connections to build context and meaning when they are learning holistically.

During my time in teaching, I have held many leadership roles including early years leader and English leader and I am happy to bring this experience with me in these roles again at Magna Carta Primary Academy.  As a child, I was an avid reader and I am fully aware of how books can nurture curious minds, give access to different worlds and knowledge and build emotional intelligence.  My current project is to ensure that all the staff at Magna Carta are equipped with the skills to support children to become exceptional, fluent readers; a challenge I am relishing and will continue to relish.
